Hi, I'm Susan Paré and welcome to my website. I started writing mystery novels in 2015 at the age of 76. I now have 21 novels and 1 short story published on Amazon. My books are easy reading and fun. I love to leave my readers saying, "I didn't see that coming" and a lot - really, a lot - of them do just that. My books are listed below and you can read a short synopsis and excerpt for each book by clicking on the cover pictures.

Please take a moment and look around my site. Check out my reviews - I'm proud to say that the majority of them are 5 star reviews.

I'd love it if you'd subscribe to my reader's list (you can do that at bottom of page) or contact me with your questions and comments.

“three points”

The Unsolved Murder of Ray Sullivan

Frankie Sullivan didn’t just wake up one morning and decide to kill. Although she didn’t realize it, the thought had been percolating in the back of her brain for some time now. Probably since the first time he had hit her. Most definitely after he killed her baby.

‘Thou shall not kill’, the bible commands. Of course, it also says ‘an eye for an eye’, she thought. So, until God and all those men in heaven make up their minds, ‘an eye for an eye’ works for me.

Chief Augie Austin has his hands full trying to prove that a man who disappeared has been murdered. He has no evidence. He has no body.  All he has is a gut feeling and his gut has almost always been right.

In her new novel, “three points”, Paré proves that you can get away with murder. You just have to die first. Read more...

The Finger had me laughing over murder and the ensuing cover up. I know. It seems strange to use laughing and murder in the same sentence. The book had me quickly turning pages, finished reading in one sitting. Apparently, cats like finger food, too. 😂

In 2014, I wrote a short book for my family about growing up in the ‘40s and ‘50s, called “Blueberries and Bears and my Brother’s Shoes.”  I wanted my boys to know what life was like when I was growing up. My family enjoyed it and encouraged me to continue writing. I didn’t need much encouragement.  I had the writing bug. So, I decided to try my hand at writing fiction. Although, a little concerned about not having a formal education in writing, I gave it a go. And, a new career was born.

Review of - The House on Ludington Street  by John F. Haase

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW ! What a riveting (and memory-shaking) story !!!    Verified Purchase

It's amazing. Susan took memories from a small (and rather boring) mid-western town and turned it into a riveting and memory-shaking story. Being from the same town, I recognized all the landmarks and, with some imagination, characters even though the names were slightly altered (with good reason). Whitey was correctly rendered, including his personality. I LOVED IT !! Can't wait for the hinted-at sequel. Thank you Susan.
